Rohingya man gunned down over ‘establishing supremacy’

Shawdesh desk; A Rohingya man shot to death allegedly by a group of a criminals over establishing supremacy at a refugee camp in Cox’s Bazar’s Teknaf upazila on Saturday morning.

The killing took place around 8.30pm at a Mochni registered Rohingya camp in Hnila union of the upazila.

The deceased was identified as Mohammad Alam, 48, a resident of E Block at the camp.

According to the locals, Mohammad Alam was going to attend in a local arbitration in the morning. On the way, when he reached in the junction of C, D and E block of the camp, a group of six miscreants stopped him.

Later, they picked up Mohammad Alam and took him to nearby school where they shot in his head, leaving him dead on the spot.

Teknaf Police Station officer-in-charge Usman Gani said they are not sure who and why the killing took place, however, it is initially believed that the murder happened over establishing dominance.”

The OC said that efforts are on to arrest those involved in the incident.

The body was recovered from the spot and sent to Cox’s Bazar District Sadar Hospital morgue for autopsy, added the OC.
